The Office of Ecumenical and Interreligious Relations will host a webinar overviewing the proposed full communion agreement between The Episcopal Church and the United Methodist Church (UMC), which will be considered at the 82nd General Convention in July 2027.
The webinar will be hosted by the Rev. Kirsten Guidero, ecumenical and interreligious officer for The Episcopal Church.

The Rt. Rev. Pastor Elías García, bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Colombia
The Rt. Rev. Betsey Monnot, bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Iowa
The Rev. RJ Powell, priest-in-charge at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church and diocesan ecumenical and interreligious officer for the Episcopal Diocese of East Tennessee
Eugene Schlesinger, assistant professor of religious studies at Santa Clara University
This online event will have Spanish interpretation and is open to all who are interested. Bishops, deputation members, and diocesan ecumenical and interreligious officers (DEIOs) are especially encouraged to attend.
Participants will learn about the meaning and potential benefits of the proposal, as well as the UMC’s perspectives on theological, social, and polity matters. Attendees will receive resources to share with their dioceses and congregations.
