SUMMARY:Sewanee School of Theology Lunch and Learn Series
DESCRIPTION:Throughout the academic year\, the Sewanee School of Theology hosts a series of lunch and learn webinars led by faculty. The sessions are held at noon Central Time (1 p.m. EST) and are free and open to all. \nPaul’s Anxious Letter to Rome\nDr. Paul Holloway\, university professor of Classics and Ancient Christianity\nPaul wrote his now famous letter to Rome in Corinth in the wake of a sustained and brutal challenge to his continuing authority in the Corinthian assembly. This challenge was not based on a theological disagreement—as it would be in Galatia—but on the question of status: the Corinthians were Paul’s social and cultural betters. Paul worried that he would face a similar and even more robust challenge in Rome\, an anxiety that materially shaped what was to be his magnum opus. \nRegister

SUMMARY:Discover Living Stories Sermons: An Introductory Webinar
DESCRIPTION:What if Sunday sermons weren’t just heard but seen\, felt\, and co-created by everyone in the room? Living Stories is an innovative approach to preaching that invites the whole congregation—kids and adults alike—into a shared exploration of scripture. \nRooted in the lectionary and inspired by Godly Play\, Living Stories blends storytelling\, tactile elements\, and open-ended wondering questions to make the Gospel come alive. Instead of a single preacher delivering a message\, the congregation becomes active participants\, discovering meaning together.A parable might unfold with wooden figures on a felt underlay\, sparking reflections like\, “I wonder what this story says about our lives today?” \nThis emerging model fosters intergenerational connection\, deepens spiritual engagement\, and cultivates a sense of belonging through sacred storytelling.Curious to learn more? Join a free Zoom webinar and discover how you could use Living Stories at your church to transform your worship. \nFebruary 10 (Monday) at 4pm Eastern\nMarch 6 (Thursday) at 12pm Eastern \nSign up here today! \nLEARN MORE

SUMMARY:Province 1 Becoming Beloved Community Network Meeting
DESCRIPTION:A call to appreciate one another as children of God continually has been repeated at the General Conventions of the Episcopal Church. In 2009\, the General Convention urged every leadership body of the Church to institute programs or sessions on ‘anti-racism’. Dioceses around the globe instituted anti-racism training and many use Seeing the Face of God in Each Other: The Antiracism Training Manual of the Episcopal Church\, a curriculum designed to make us all more aware of how society’s racist past still haunts us today. A new framework for racial reconciliation toward creating Beloved Community was approved at General Convention 79 (2018). \n\nBuilding on the work done since 2013 by the EXPLORING DIVERSITY & NURTURING CULTURAL COMPETENCY Task Force\, the Province 1 Becoming Beloved Community Network seeks to bring together those interested in working toward racial reconciliation\, healing\, and justice. We provide share resources and experiences in doing this work through the Province 1 website\, social media\, and quarterly gatherings. \nThe next quarterly Zoom meeting of this network will be Sunday\, February 23\, 2025 from 3-5 p.m. Register here for this call. \nFor more information on the network\, reach out to James McKim. \nThis Ministry Network recordings of previous calls may be found on the Province 1 YouTube page.
