Wear Orange for Gun Safety Awareness
From Friday, June 04, 2021
To Sunday, June 06, 2021
Wear orange on National Gun Violence Awareness Day which is observed every year on the first Friday in June. Wearing orange clothing that day and through the weekend will help bring attention to the scourge of gun violence which every day in the U.S. cuts more than 100 lives short and wounds hundreds more.
The Maine chapter of Episcopal Peace Fellowship encourages all throughout the diocese to take part in this once-a-year event and to advocate for education and legislation promoting safety with firearms. Read about the bills coming up for a vote in the Maine Legislature this week and and how you can get involved here in the Maine Episcopal Public Policy Network's latest Advocacy Alert.
Episcopal Peace Fellowship Maine is a chapter of the national organization who works on local peace initiatives, gun safety, and racial and indigenous justice both within their parish and the diocese as well as on national and international issues. For more information about EPF Maine reach out to co-conveners are Glenis Elliott and Colleen Stevens.
