Creating the Beloved Community – Black History Month Celebration 2021

February 21st, from  7:00 PM until 10:30 PM

Oranbega Retreat Center is committed to promoting and supporting diversity in the arts! Join us for our Black History Month Celebration, Creating the Beloved Community!

We are so happy to invite you this month to Creating the Beloved Community, our Black History Month celebration on February 21st, from 7:00 PM until 10:30 PM. With special guest co-host, Charles Nero, Professor of African American studies at Bates College, Lewiston, Maine, the program will pay special focus to African American writer and Maine resident, Ashley Bryan, as well as many other artists and visionaries whose diverse voices help create stronger communities.  The program will finish out the night with a Jazz tribute to Duke Ellington, by Oranbega Retreat Center’s own “house band”, Spence & Co.

Oranbega Retreat Center vigorously supports Black and minority writers, artists, and spiritual leaders and we are very happy to include you in our Zoom Celebration of Black History Month.  Black history matters all year just as Black Lives Matter all the time, in every month, and on every day of the year.
