The Episcopal Church in Maine

TEC

TEC (Teens Encounter Christ) is an event led by high schoolers, for high schoolers. It is one of the prominent youth events of the Diocese of Maine, drawing upwards of seventy teens from Maine and surrounding states.

Participants at TEC will meet other teens, engage in meaningful discussion groups and enjoyable worship services, listen to talks written and given by other teens, play games, listen to music, and essentially have a great time. It is an excellent way to grow closer to God and others. Come and experience church in an entirely different way – designed, run, and led by your own peers.

TEC has had a powerful impact on many former participants, newcomers and staff alike. Here are some reflections:

“It showed me what I had been missing in my life. A community of teenagers bonded together by God's love- something I could never have imagined before. This amazing gathering united by devotion to God and spreading His love really opened my eyes to what I had been missing all my life.”
- Zan

“It gives me a feeling that is hard to describe. I feel God all around me, in everything I do. It makes me realize He's always with us, no matter what. I become closer to God in ways I never thought possible. It's amazing to see so many people together for the same reason, all so loving. It's pretty neat.” - Kirsten

If you are a high schooler willing to move closer to God or others, engage in introspective and pensive discussions, enjoy great music and worship, and meet new friends, come to TEC. There are no requirements – you don't have to be Episcopalian, you don't need to believe in God – we simply ask that you have an open mind. If you are interested in upcoming TEC events, there may be information at Hot News, and an application at the Current Applications page.
