Ruach
Ruach is the Hebrew word for spirit or wind. It is used in the Old Testament to talk about God's Holy Spirit. This retreat is named Ruach because it was created with the goal of letting the Holy Spirit guide the weekend. Ruach was created in Maine by a design team of young adults and a few older adult mentors who sought the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Each presenter chose the topic they are speaking about because that is what they felt called by the Holy Spirit to present. The second Ruach, in January 2008, is beign offered jointly with The Crossing emergent worship community of young adults at the cathedral in Boston.
Fill My Cup was the theme that the design team chose for the first Ruach. We explored what it means to fill our spiritual cups. Spiritual disciplines including various types of prayer and scripture reading were be presented and practiced as we sought to learn together how God calls us into a deeper relationship.
