The Lambeth Conference

In preparation for the Lambeth Conference, Bishops and their spouses have been following a schedule of daily bible reflection on John's Gospel using Burridge's Daily Bible Commentary: John. During the Conference, everyone is invited to support the participants using Signs on the Way, a series of reflections on the seven signs in John's Gospel.

Signs on the Way may be downloaded at www.lambethconference.org. Burridge's commentary may be purchased at www.christianbook.com.

We hope that people throughout the Anglican Communion will use this series as a way of being present in spirit at the Lambeth Conference, supporting their bishops before, during and after this important gathering.

Episcopal News Service's bulletin inserts about the Lambeth Conference continue a 10 part series. Download it here.

A Prayer for Maine
Thank you, God, for the state of Maine, reaching ever for the first light of day. As Thy people wake to eastern rays, what chowder of nourishment dost Thou prepare for body and soul: concocted so delectably of pine needles and potatoes, of herring and clams and lobsters in their rocky lairs, of blueberries and new-mown hay and a thousand lakes and little boats brave upon the deep.

Of such blessings did our fathers and mothers distill their rugged liberty: Grant us grace to win the same, along the country roads and on the fringed and tasseled coast of our wooded land; through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.
