Diocese of Maine elects the Rev. Canon Stephen Lane bishop coadjutor. On Friday, October 26, 2007, the 188th Annual Convention of the Diocese of Maine elected The Rev. Canon Stephen Lane Bishop Coadjutor on the first ballot.

Under the canons of the Episcopal Church, a majority of the bishops exercising jurisdiction and diocesan Standing Committees must consent to Lane's ordination as bishop.
